Perfect waves, breaking in crystal clear water over colorful coral reefs…all this happening meters from idyllic sandy beaches fringed by coconut trees. It’s what you dream about! We’re here to make your dreams a reality.

Indonesia is famous for a reason, the consistency, quality and variety of waves is incredible. We run charters year round as there are waves practically 365 days a year. During peak season (April-October), waves are generally 3-4ft everyday with a solid +6ft swell lasting a few days, seen every week. The off season (November-March) doesn’t mean the waves stop, it just means there are fewer people. We run charters through these months too and always get fun waves with the added bonus of less people around.

Our boats operate out of the port of Padang, West Sumatra, with a few destinations all holding a variety of quality waves. You can choose a trip to the wave dense Mentawai or the more mellow Telo Islands.  Trips to either of these locations can be decided a few days before departure depending upon surf conditions, guests’ abilities and preferences.

Our ‘North Trips’ charters are becoming increasingly popular. On these trips guest will get to visit a huge variety of waves by cruising through the Telo Islands, visiting the swell magnets Bawa and Asu and the perfection of Treasure Island and Bay of Plenty on the Banyak Islands. There are also a few surf spots in between. All of this on a single charter!

Which ever area you visit with Mentawai Daze Surf Charters we have the trip for you and we will ensure a smooth operation, and arriving to the right wave at the right time!

The Mentawai Islands are renowned as a “mecca” in the surfing world, and they’re featured in just about every surf film you’ve ever watched.

Why? The number and variety of waves in the Ments are huge. The waves are consistent and break all year round. And some of the best waves in the world are here. Period.

Here are a few videos to give you more of an idea of what to expect from your Mentawai Daze experience. They give an overview of the waves you can expect and also show how the waves can vary through the season.

Telo Islands in June. A great trip with a bunch of central coast guys from NSW. Coming into peak season, we scored great waves mostly by ourselves. We encountered only 3 other boats the whole trip. The video shows a variety of waves and some stunning drone shots of the islands. (3mins 46sec)

Mentawais early season. This kicked off on the 21st of Jan 2017. Waves were consistently shoulder to head high with a few bigger days thrown in…and the fishing was going nuts! Early season often equals minimal crowds and consistent head high waves. (3mins 30secs)

Mentawais maxxing out! Peak season typically offers solid runs of swell. This trip was lucky enough to encounter two solid swells, as well as some more mellow waves in between. Even when it’s maxxing out at the exposed breaks, there are other spots that moderate the swell into more manageable waves. (4mins 9sec)

Avoiding peak season crowds. The lads from loftus were keen for some quiet waves. We kept busy often overlooking the a-grade spots to find  some  great breaks to ourselves. Even through peak season, we make it our mission to search out quiet spots. (4mins 10sec)
